😂⛳ THE THREE STOOGES TAKE ON THE GOLF COURSE — THREE LITTLE BEERS AND A HILARIOUS DISASTER! | 1935

Can The Three Stooges actually play golf? After watching Three Little Beers, one thing becomes clear: Moe, Larry, and Curly may have plenty of enthusiasm, but their golfing abilities are another story entirely!

Released on November 28, 1935, by Columbia Pictures, Three Little Beers is one of the most entertaining comedy shorts from the legendary trio’s early years. Featuring Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard, the film transforms an ordinary golf tournament into an unforgettable comedy disaster.

With ridiculous misunderstandings, terrible golf swings, unexpected accidents, and perfectly timed slapstick, this short film demonstrates exactly why The Three Stooges became some of the most beloved comedians in American entertainment history.

1. Three Delivery Men With an Unusual Opportunity

The story begins at the Panther Brewing Company, where Moe, Larry, and Curly are working as delivery men.

Their job seems straightforward enough: transport barrels of beer and make sure everything reaches its destination.

Unfortunately, the trio is not exactly known for professionalism.

While working, they discover that their company is organizing a golf tournament with attractive cash prizes. The first-place winner will receive $100, with additional prizes available for the other competitors.

Suddenly, the three delivery men become extremely interested.

There is just one small problem.

They barely understand how golf works!

When Curly hears about the competition, he becomes confused by the idea of shooting golf. His misunderstanding produces one of those wonderfully ridiculous moments that perfectly captures his personality.

Moe, naturally, decides that he knows everything about the sport.

And that is when the real trouble begins.

2. Sneaking Onto the Golf Course

While making a delivery near Rancho Golf Club, the Stooges realize they have an opportunity to practice before the tournament.

Instead of completing their work properly, they decide to sneak onto the course.

Their confidence is extraordinary.

Their knowledge of golf, however, is practically nonexistent.

The trio attempts to pass themselves off as legitimate participants, even though their behavior immediately raises questions.

One particularly funny exchange occurs when they encounter the golf club’s staff.

Their explanations become increasingly ridiculous as they attempt to convince everyone that they belong there.

The humor comes from the contrast between the sophisticated atmosphere of the golf club and the complete lack of manners displayed by the three newcomers.

Moe believes he can talk his way through anything.

Larry tries to follow along.

Curly simply creates more confusion.

3. Moe, Larry, and Curly Discover the Rules of Golf

Once they reach the course, the Stooges encounter experienced golfers preparing their shots.

The contrast is immediately hilarious.

The professional players expect silence and concentration.

The Stooges arrive making noise, dropping equipment, and disturbing everyone around them.

Moe attempts to explain the basic principles of golf to his partners, using a broom to demonstrate how a player should swing a club.

Naturally, his demonstration does not go according to plan.

Larry becomes another unfortunate victim of Moe’s teaching methods.

Meanwhile, Curly continues misunderstanding golf terminology.

When someone mentions shooting a birdie, the conversation becomes another opportunity for confusion.

These exchanges demonstrate the trio’s extraordinary ability to turn ordinary conversations into comedy.

Their jokes are simple, but the timing and expressions make every moment entertaining.

4. Larry’s Golf Swing Creates Complete Chaos

Larry eventually gets an opportunity to demonstrate his golfing abilities.

Unfortunately, his performance is far from impressive.

His attempts to hit the ball are awkward, unpredictable, and increasingly dangerous for everyone standing nearby.

At one point, Larry accidentally strikes another golfer while attempting his swing.

Rather than recognizing his mistake, he behaves as though the other players simply lack experience.

This is classic Three Stooges humor.

The characters rarely understand that they are responsible for the disasters unfolding around them.

Instead, they confidently blame everyone else.

Larry’s attempts to improve his game only create additional problems, turning a peaceful golf course into a battlefield of flying equipment and frustrated players.

5. Curly Howard Turns Golf Into a Comedy Disaster

Curly Howard is particularly entertaining throughout the short.

His physical comedy, exaggerated expressions, and unpredictable reactions make the golf sequences especially memorable.

When Curly attempts to hit a golf ball, his equipment seems determined to work against him.

His club gets caught in obstacles, his shots go in unexpected directions, and even the simplest movements become complicated accidents.

One of the funniest developments involves his golf ball becoming stuck in a tree.

Instead of finding a sensible way to retrieve it, Curly decides that chopping down the tree is the obvious solution.

His determination to solve the problem makes the situation even more ridiculous.

This is exactly what made Curly such a special comedian.

He could transform an ordinary physical action into an elaborate comic routine using nothing more than timing, expressions, and exaggerated movements.

6. The Golf Course Becomes a Complete Disaster

As the three men continue practicing, the situation becomes increasingly destructive.

Larry struggles with a stubborn root that interferes with his golf shot.

Rather than leaving it alone, he keeps pulling until the surrounding ground becomes badly damaged.

Moe also has difficulties controlling his golf club.

Instead of striking the ball correctly, he repeatedly hits the ground, creating holes and damaging the playing surface.

Meanwhile, Curly continues his battle with the tree.

The groundskeepers eventually discover what is happening and become furious.

The peaceful golf course has been transformed into a disaster zone.

The three Stooges have managed to create more trouble in a short period than most golfers could imagine.

Their reactions to being discovered are just as entertaining as the destruction itself.

Instead of accepting responsibility, they quickly attempt to escape.

7. The Legendary Barrel Chase

Just when audiences might think the chaos is over, the film delivers another unforgettable sequence.

The Stooges rush back to their delivery truck and attempt to get away before facing the consequences of their behavior.

But their troubles are far from finished.

The barrels of beer begin rolling away, creating an increasingly ridiculous chase.

The trio struggles to control the situation as the barrels move down the street.

What follows is a spectacular example of classic physical comedy, combining movement, timing, and escalating confusion.

The sequence perfectly demonstrates the filmmakers’ ability to turn simple objects into major comedy elements.

A few beer barrels become the center of an elaborate disaster.

And the Stooges are once again completely overwhelmed by their own actions.

8. Why Three Little Beers Remains a Classic

More than 90 years after its release, Three Little Beers remains a wonderful example of the golden age of slapstick comedy.

Directed by Ray McCarey, the short features the classic Moe, Larry, and Curly lineup during one of the most celebrated periods of their career.

Its humor is built around recognizable personalities and simple situations that quickly become absurd.

Moe’s aggressive leadership, Larry’s unfortunate mistakes, and Curly’s unpredictable behavior create a perfect comedic combination.

The golf setting also provides an excellent opportunity for physical humor.

Every swing becomes a potential disaster.

Every misunderstanding creates another joke.

And every attempt to restore order only makes things worse.

That timeless formula explains why audiences continue enjoying The Three Stooges decades after their original performances.
